NCAA Football 11: Recruiting Confuses Me

I probably would have no shot at this guy — but maybe? Okay, so I'm almost a full season through two different NCAA Football 11 dynasty modes, and my recruiting is, we'll say, going poorly. I think. I'm playing as Mizzou-rah, a 4-star team (out of a possible 6 stars), and through six weeks I've signed two players — one four-star player (a HB I don't really need — Derrick Washington isn't suspended in video game land) and a three-star cornerback.
I dig the system, I enjoy recruiting from my laptop, but I've no clue if I'm doing it right or wrong, and I won't know until it's too late (which is now). I want an advisor, some "assistant coach" who sets up the draft board for me, who makes it a blend of needs and players interested, so I don't just spend a wasted 60 minutes to come up with some guy who only wants to play at Miami or USC. There's this useless tutorial on EA Sports, now, but why isn't this in the game? I don't want to go to GameFAQs.com to hunt around for tips, when they should be more evident. But for the future: an assistant coach is a must! Make it so, EA!

I had the same problem when I first started. Over time, my recruiting has become highly successful at numerous schools. I start by doing a search for players that have me listed in their top 5 schools and make sure to add only players I need at first. After that, I spend a full hour with the same 10 guys each week til they sign. If you set your board up correctly you should have 3-5 instant commits by week 4 at the latest which will allow you to plug more players onto your board. I'd say I average 4-6 5 stars and about a dozen 4 stars a year currently at Oregon.
I believe you can have the cpu assist you in choosing certain positions and certain skills. I remember messing with it but i havent had that hard of a time on varsity. Team management--->Recruiting Plan.
Hope this helps!
