About 4th String
4th String is sports gaming’s must-visit daily destination, which gives a fresh take on sports gaming’s biggest stories (from breaking news to first-look previews, to-the-point reviews and the latest trailers), and boasts a weekly podcast hosted by Todd Zuniga, the creator of the legendary Sports Anomaly (the longest-running sports video game podcast ever created), along with the Daily Yakker — a daily minute-long audio rant from members of the 4th String staff.
Bluntly: Most major video game Web sites have long undervalued sports video games, largely thinking of them as little more than an annual update. So, so wrong. All the more reason for 4th String, which aims to be the number one source for sports video game coverage on the Internet, delivered with unparalleled energy and contagious enthusiasm.
4th String is staffed by:
Todd Zuniga (4th String Founder) is a 14-year video game industry veteran who has written about sports video games for EGM, ESPN, G4TV, The Onion, 1UP.com, GamePro, Official PlayStation Magazine (and a host of others), and is the creator of the Sports Anomaly podcast — which ran for 163 episodes on the 1UP Radio Network. A former assistant producer at Electronic Arts (NBA Street 3; MVP 2005), a former PR manager at Rockstar Games, and a former associate editor Official PlayStation Magazine, he now runs the Literary Death Match event worldwide, and lives between Paris and couches all over the United States.
Loves: Chicago Cubs, Denver Broncos, St. Louis Blues, Chelsea, Wes Anderson.
Hates: St. Louis Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Detroit Red Wings, Manchester United, Roland Emmerich.
Greg Ford has been part of the video-game editorial industry for almost a decade now, but he has actually been in training his whole life. The same goes for following sports. Coincidentally, you may have seen his coverage of sports games in EGM, The Official PlayStation Magazine, Xbox Nation, GMR, GameNOW, 1UP.com, GamePro.com, and on the legendary Sports Anomaly podcast. In addition to helping out at Bitmob.com, Ford is currently back at school ostensibly to get a graduate degree, although it might all be a ruse to figure out what makes collegiate sports so special.
Loves: Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, USA USA USA, movies with killer creatures, last-minute goal-line stands, cold beer on warm nights.
Hates: New York Yankees, Indianapolis Colts, L.A. Lakers, bandwagon fans, wishy-washy athletes, players who drop out of online games.
Andrew Fitch is the dedicated historian of the team, and has been described as "enigmatic" and "mysterious," but he doesn't really understand why. He's so open about his sports man-crush on Giants hurler Tim Lincecum, after all! Secret fact: He originally entered college to become a sportswriter, but he decided to switch his focus to video games instead. 4th String gives him the best of both!
Loves: USA soccer, San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Tim Lincecum, Barry "Zeets" Zito, Diego Forlan, rain, Midwestern girls, ancient history
Hates: France, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Manchester United, Chelsea, Pittsburgh Steelers, the sun, hipster girls, modern history
Mike Suszek is the young gun, upstart rookie of the group and former Editor in Chief of The Wiire, the web's first Nintendo Wii site. Mike is the host and producer of PictoChat Podcast, a lighthearted bi-weekly Nintendo DS/3DS radio show. Additionally, he lends his voice to a variety of podcasts, including the final dozen-ish episodes of the Sports Anomaly. He is wrapping up a long-overdue degree in Journalism/Media Communications at UW-Milwaukee. You can catch him weekly on the upcoming and life-changing Modern Game Player radio show, slated to air Wednesdays at 10pm EST on www.moderngameplayer.com.
Loves: Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, UWM Panthers, pro wrestling, bacon cheeseburgers, Leinenkugel's beer, The Smashing Pumpkins, gadgets
Hates: Dallas Cowboys, the rest of the NFC North, Chicago Cubs fans, the state of Illinois, MLB teams that intentionally hit other players, lack of instant replay in the MLB, most condiments
